Toyota plans to launch the 2022 Toyota HyRyder in India on July 1. While the SUV has previously been spotted to prove its existence, it has now been officially teased to feature all-wheel drive (AWD) automatic gearbox integration and hybrid architecture.

According to Toyota's most latest teaser, the upcoming HyRyder AWD appears to borrow the design language from the global RAV4, which has been a success in the C Segment SUV market.

The 2022 HyRyder's blue paintwork is more reminiscent of the RAV4, with angular LED DRLs in three sections and a large geometrical air dam. The teaser video emphasises the SUV's rear disc brakes. Fog lamps, black front grilles, and alloy wheels will be standard.

The interior of the HyRyder features a head-up touchscreen display that supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. A sunroof, an advanced driver seat, and automatic climate control will be among the other features.

With the announcement of the AWD system, the HyRyder is confirmed to be the segment's first such SUV, ahead of competitors such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, and Skoda Kushaq. Also, the HyRyder moniker strongly suggests that the SUV is a hybrid, and it has now been revealed that it will be available with two powertrain options.

The high-end model will have a powerful self-charging hybrid electric combination, while the lower model will have the same combination but with some limitations. Both variants, however, will be powered by a 1.5L K15 petrol engine.

To compete, Toyota is expected to launch the 2022 HyRyder with aggressive pricing, possibly starting at Rs 10 lakh ex-showroom. While the top AWD Automatic model can be more expensive.
