The iconic brand Vespa is preparing to enter India's electric mobility market. Piaggio, the parent company based in Italy, has Elettrica as its EV sub-brand to develop Vespa electric scooters. The company is currently working on the launch of its electric scooter, as the EV two-wheeler segment in India is rapidly expanding.

Diego Graffi, Managing Director of Piaggio India, spoke to the Economic Times when asked about the company's future plans in the country. "The company would not enter the EV market just for the sake of it," he said. Instead, they will have a 'powertrain' tailored to their needs."

Nonetheless, Vespa has been selling Elettrica electric scooters in some European markets, which were also displayed at the Delhi Auto Expo in 2018 and 2020. The Vespa Elettrica is expected to arrive in India sooner or later. We can discuss the features of the global Vespa Elettrica scooter before any official announcements.
